About Me

Kemi Oyesiku
Me in Edinburgh in 2017

Hi, thanks for being curious about me. I am a talented writer with over 12 years working as a Front End Web Developer (HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript) both as a freelancer (currently) and a full time employee (recent past). I used to work with Adobe building the front end of facebook page applications for clients like Kohl’s, Chase and Hyatt. But before that,  I worked for Reality Digital (no longer around) building the front end of their white label SaaS social media platform for clients like Sony, PBS and Pepsi.

Before becoming a web developer (and sometimes designer) I worked in book publishing industry after graduating from SFSU with a BA in English (Creative Writing focus and film theory minor). While in school I interned for City Lights Booksellers and Publishers. After graduating, I worked for Nolo Press, Publishers Group West and Avalon Travel Publishing and Seal Press.

I am a lifelong student and a natural DIYer, in arts, crafts , work and pretty much all aspects of my life. Early in my web career, I learned web development on my own via online tutorials and a web certificate program at Sessions.edu. Then later in my career, while working at Adobe, I took courses at AcademyX in San Francisco. As a technical writer, I’ve created user and training manuals, protocol manuals and have done documentation/content audits for my clients. Today I continue to improve my craft through Technical Writing books, podcasts, related slack channels, personal projects and online resources like I’d Rather Be Writing and WriteTheDocs.
